What is Osseointegration?

What Are Dental Implants Made Of?

What is a Sinus Lift?

Patients who are receiving dental implants will undoubtedly hear or read the term ‘osseointegration.’ This important process is vital to the process of successfully placing an implant.

The process, first discovered in the 1960s by a Swedish researcher named Per-Ingvar Brånemark, occurs when the titanium dental implant permanently fuses with a patient’s jawbone. As long as a patient’s jawbone is wide enough and high enough, the jawbone will connect with the implant and grow around the metal. The process locks the implant into place, which enables the treatment to last for a very long time.
