The Biggest Risks to Oral Health: Nail Biting

Should I Use Mouthwash?

Why Are My Teeth So Sensitive?

One of our primary goals is to educate patients on how to prevent problems with their teeth and how to lead a healthier life. We believe in the power of prevention and, therefore, want to point out the biggest risks to your oral health so that you can be armed with more information that you can use to potentially make better choices in your life.

Nail Biting

Nail biting is a common habit that many people across the country engage in. Frequent nail-biting, however, can cause more damage to your teeth than most people might be aware of. People who bite their nails frequently are at risk for more cracks, chips, or stress fractures to their front teeth. Furthermore, the Journal General Dentistry found that biting nails can put people at greater risk for bruxism, too. If bruxism isn’t fixed, it can lead to TMJ and other jaw problems.
