The American Dental Association recently released a report that highlights the state of oral health in California during the 2015 calendar year. The report examined a variety of factors, including dental care utilization, fluoridation rates, oral health status, attitudes and knowledge of the California population, and more.
– Only 44-45% of adults answered all of HPI’s oral health knowledge survey questions correctly.
– California has 76.6 dentists per 100,000 people, higher than the national rate of 60.5.
– 64% of the population living on community water systems receives fluoridated water.
– Low-income adults in California have a higher dental health index score than the average low-income American in general, while high-income Californians have a lower score than the average high-income American.
